Wren Academy is still a new school, opened in 2008. Since the school's beginnings we have recognised the fundamental importance of effective teaching and learning in maximising students' engagement in lessons and, as a result, their academic progress.
Wren has adopted an approach to teaching which makes young people responsible for their own learning and helps them to develop their learning capacity. The results of this approach have been dramatic and impressive. Wren has twice been inspected by Ofsted and on both occasions deemed to be outstanding. We are in the top 10% of state schools nationally for academic attainment at GCSE and for value added.
Our staff are very experienced in collaborative working and in supporting colleagues in other schools. Wren senior and middle leaders have carried out consultancy work in a range of school settings to very positive effect. At Wren, we host regular professional development activities for colleagues at all levels of leadership from schools across the country. Our close partnership with Berkhamsted School gives us a particular insight into the needs and aspirations of ambitious schools in the independent sector.
