Training Opportunities

Training Opportunities

We are pleased to offer bespoke training programmes and consultancy for individuals or groups of colleagues from Woodard Schools. The focus of your training needs will be discussed in advance so that a personalised programme can be put in place. This approach allows participants to build their own training experience, relevant to their context yet utilising the range of expertise available at Wren Academy. Most training is held at the Academy, although consultancy visits can be arranged when appropriate. All training is free to teachers and support colleagues working in Woodard Schools.

Perspectives in Leadership 1

This programme for faculty and departmental leaders helps participants to reflect upon and develop their leadership skills so that they can ensure teaching and learning are functioning as effectively as possible in their areas of responsibility. The course allows leaders to focus in detail on their core responsibility and interest, recognising that if teaching and learning are right then this will help ensure that most of the department's objectives are achieved.

The programme is based on the persuasive evidence that there is a body of skills and knowledge which all of the best heads of faculty and department should possess. It is, however, also recognised from the outset that al school contexts are different. The programme will give participants exposure to the best practice and then allow them to apply it in their own school's circumstances.

We intend that this programme should be professional development in its widest sense, thought provoking and intellectual as well as of significant practical benefit. It will above all be relevant to middle leaders wanting to perform at the highest level and to make their faculties or departments as successful as possible.

Perspectives in Leadership 2

This programme for senior leaders helps participants to reflect upon and develop their strategic leadership skills so that they can ensure teaching and learning are functioning as effectively as possible in their schools. The course allows leaders to focus in detail on the core business of schools, recognising that if teaching and learning is right in a school then many of the organisation's objectives will be achieved as a result.
